Our Story

How It Started

How It Started

Owner Melissa has always been passionate about food and cooking, since she could stand in a chair and help her grandmother cook as a toddler! She's been a home cook her entire life and loved hosting big family holiday meals (and still does). Her son always requested her cheesesteak sandwiches for his birthday dinners as he got older, which led to her following her dreams and cooking for others for a living.
How It Happened

How It Happened

Melissa and her teenage children opened a small, takeout-only restaurant in August of 2023. They started out in a tiny converted food truck with only drive-through service but quickly outgrew it, so they found a larger abandoned building that was in need of a new business to revamp its old bones. They quickly got to work cleaning, repairing, replacing, and inspecting every square inch of the old building, which is now known as Philly Pete's.
